About

Silver-toned Soprano, Kristen Walker, possesses an attractive, dramatic voice, full of long, lyrical lines.  Equally at home with operatic roles and concert work, Ms. Walker has enjoyed performances in a variety of venues throughout the country, including New York, California, Utah, and her home state of Missouri.  During the 2019-2020 season Ms. Walker returned to New York as a Featured Artist with the New York Dramatic Voices to sing Sieglinde’s final scene from Die Walküre.

In the 2018-2019 season, Ms. Walker had the honor of singing the world premiere of I Shall Have Peace, a song cycle by Michael Payne.  The first movement, I Am Not Yours, was written specifically for her expressive soprano voice. Also this season, Ms. Walker performed the role of Tonina in Prima la musica, e poi le parole with the Springfield Regional Opera.

During the 2017-2018 season, Ms. Walker made her role debut as Zweite Dame in Springfield Regional Opera’s production of Die Zauberflöte as well as gracing the stage as a guest soloist for concerts with Springfield Mid America Singers and The Queen City Masquerade, performing excerpts from Wagner’s Tannhäuser.  That summer she sang in concert at Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah, and performed scenes as Minnie (La Fanciulla del West), Euyranthe (Euryanthe), and Laura (La Gioconda) as a Principal Artist with the Utah Vocal Arts Academy, an affiliate of the Utah Lyric Opera.

Ms. Walker made her New York debut in 2015 with the Manhattan Opera Studio singing Marcellina in their production of Le nozze di Figaro.  She was invited to reprise this role the following season with Springfield Regional Opera. Ms. Walker also spent the summer of 2016 participating in the prestigious SongFest Program as a Professional Artist in Los Angeles.

Other career highlights include singing with Springfield Regional Opera as a Studio Artist.  During this time, Ms. Walker enjoyed roles in their productions of The Wise Women, The Elixir of Love, and Otello as well as singing at various galas and concert venues.  Ms. Walker earned her Master of Music in Voice Performance from Missouri State University while simultaneously performing and working behind the scenes in their Opera Theatre Program’s productions of The Magic Flute, Die Fledermaus, and Dido and Aeneas
